Chubs is a proudly homebred female, born and raised here at Wildcard Cattle Dogs. She is a product of our very first Rosie x Swanson pairing-a cross that we had high hopes for, and Chubs has certainly exceeded expectations. From her earliest days, she showed promise not only in structure and drive but also in her outstanding personality and intelligence. As a young dog, she quickly established herself as a core part of our future breeding plans, offering the kind of versatility, temperament, and work ethic that is the foundation of our program.
Chubs carriest a pedigree steeped in proven working dogs and well-known Australian Cattle Dog lines. Her sire, Xtimber Swanson’s Tru Blu Spader, brings a wealth of quality from his lineage, which includes names such as Shadybrooks Lakota Blue Badger, a dog respected for his sharp herding instinct, mental stability, and traditional ACD type. Swanson himself has reputation for being reliable, driven, and socially sound-traits he has passed on generously to Chubs.
On her dam’s side, Chubs is the daughter of McKenzie River’s Red, White, N Malibu, a female that brings solid conformation and enduring stamina to the table. Rosie’s pedigree features standout dogs such as DDB’s In Loving Memory and Rocky Callahan, who are noted for producing offspring with excellent structure, loyalty, and biddability. Many of the dogs in Chubs’ ancestry are AKC DNA certified, and multiple generations have undergone OFA and genetic health testing, reinforcing her lineage as one of both performance and health reliability.
In day-to-day life and in work, Chubs is a striking example of the Australian Cattle Dog breed at its best. She has an exceptional nose, demonstrating strong scenting instincts that make her keen on tracking and problem sloving. Her food motivation and eagerness to work make her a pleasure to train, and she retains information well, picking up new tasks quickly and with enthusism. When in working mode, she is focused and serious— showing high herding instinct and the drive needed for livestock work. Her biddability ensures she’s always ready to please and willing to work alongside her handler.
Outside the field, Chubs is an endlessly entertaining and affectionate companion. She inherited her dam’s goofiness and playful energy, making her a joy to have around the house. She’s excellent at self-entertainment and thrives when given enrichment toys to keep her mind busy. Her social nature extends beyond people to other animals— she’s well-mannered with cats, gets along small animals, and plays well with other dogs.
She is truly a well-rounded dog-an intelligent, driven working partner, and a lighthearted family companion all in one. We are proud to have produced her here at Wildcard Cattle Dogs. We look forward to her future contributions both in the field and through her pups, carrying forward the legacy of Rosie and Swanson with every step.
